The painting was my take on the stunning view of Walpa Gorge, with its towering red rock walls dating back 500 million years against a striking clear blue sky.
Walpa Gorge, located in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park offered a cool refuge from the harsh Kata Tjuta sun. The stillness of this sacred passage of the Anangu people was only broken by the howling wind. It felt that this ancient land was very much living and breathing.
